ONE SIP AT A TIME

Facts that you always wanted
to know about water

GERMANY IS WORLD CHAMPION 🏆

Tomorrow, the final of the 2022 World Cup will take place. Unfortunately, without the German national team. The title will be decided between Argentina 🇦🇷 and France 🇫🇷 .

In one discipline, however, Germany is the World Champion. Germany is the country with the most active mineral and healing water springs‼️ More than 200 mineral water bottlers fill water from over 500 springs. This makes us the leader by far. Last year, about 12.4 billion liters of natural mineral and healing water were bottled from these springs.

The fact that we have so many springs is also a good thing. Because each mineral water is unique in its composition. The minerals it contains not only give the water its taste, but are also essential for our bodies. Magnesium, for example, is important for activating many enzymes and supports energy metabolism and muscle functions 💪🏼, while hydrogen carbonate can help with heartburn 🌶 .

In my opinion, we in Germany should appreciate our water diversity more as we did in the past. Mineral waters not only help us to cover our mineral requirements, but also support us in achieving our daily peak performance. Moreover, at the latest when water scarcity has fully arrived in Germany too, springs will be assigned a special role 🏜

PS: Despite the quantities and diversity in Germany, we import about 935 million liters of water annually (mainly from France). But still, Germany is the World Champion in water.

About Timo Bausch

My fascination with mineral waters began in 2016 during my training as a Water Sommelier. Since then, I have been exploring the characteristics and diversity of water. In addition to pairing water with food, wine, coffee and other beverages, I offer the creation of water menus for restaurants and hotels. Furthermore, it is also important to me to draw attention to the importance of drinking water.
